Who is the teacher?

Paul Scheepmaker lives in Hoofddorp, Noord-Holland.

Paul plays the guitar since he was 10. The first few years he taught himself how to play, but eventually - in 1983 - he decided to get lessons at Jan van der Veen in Haarlem.

In 1985 he goes through the entrance exam for Utrechts Conservatorium, a conservatory of music where he gets lessons from Dick Visser.

Two years later (1986) het transfers to Hiversums Conservatorium, where he has lessons from Frans van Gurp and Lydia Kennedy. He graduates here in 1990 as a classical guitarist, with a minor in jazz.

Even during his education, Paul releases an LP of his own in 1988: 'Come Along'. All instruments were played by him.

In the period 1989 - 1993 paul gives lessons to CKV Pier K (De Meerse) and music school Bollenstreek.

Then, in 1990, he opens his own place for giving guitar lessons in Hoofddorp. During the 90s he not only gave guitar lessons, but he was also working as a session guitarist for various bands (including: George Baker, Anny Schilder and Piet Veerman). As a session guitarist he tours throughout the Netherlands for a long time, going to all the large theatres and even appearing on TV.

At the same time he writes and produces music for advertisements, for this he created the company Paul Scheepmaker Muziek Producties.

The focus shifts to guitar lessons and his own music from 1998 onwards. After four years the album ONE is released with the band name GUES where all the tracks are his own material.

Next to all of these activities he was a part of various bands and projects, like 'The Open.'

Paul decided to go into a different direction due to 'The Open' breaking up and in 2007 he starts recording a Latin / Lounge album. The album 'Na Rede Da Veranda' was released a few years later in 2013 with a performance of the band 'O Fino Da Bossa' in the Paradiso in Amsterdam.
